Jay Harold Pearce

September 18, 1947 ~
June 3, 2023

Jay Pearce, age 75, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jay will be remembered for his charisma, humor, and unconditional love for his family and friends. He was such a hard worker, finally retiring from Procter & Gamble after 32 years of service. He spent his retirement with his two favorite “G’s” : Grandchildren and Golf. Jay was the best “PAPA”, having fun adoring his kids and grandchildren. Besides golfing, his other passions included: perfecting his lawn, watching Detroit sports with his son Mike and daughter Chrissy, going to Michigan State football games with his wife (Mimi), and to no one’s surprise, politics! Jay will be especially missed for his generosity, quick-witted humor, laugh, and love. He is survived by his wife and teammate of 47 years, Terri; children, Kelli (Jim) Pellino, Chrissy (John) Easdon, Michael (Danielle) Pearce; grandchildren, Jack, Samantha, Avery, Pearce, Taylor, Lucas; sister, Betty (Tom) Quigley; siblings-in-law, David DeBruyn, Rick (Barbara) DeBruyn, Sandy (JC) Morgan; and so many loving nieces, nephews, and golf buddies. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 12pm at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to service at the funeral home, at 11am. A private burial will be held at Blythefield Memory Gardens. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Laura Foundation or The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Our great family lost one its pillars recently with the passing of beloved brother in law Jay. He made such an impression that I still remember vividly after more than 40 years the occasion when he "burst" into our lives as the fiancée of our youngest sister. He has been a constant presence ever since and we have all been enriched beyond measure. Jay's warmth, charm, humor, wisdom, enthusiasm for sports of all kinds, generosity and above all unwavering devotion to Terri, the kids, and grandkids is something we will long treasure and so greatly miss. We are all very sad today, but also grateful that Jay Pearce passed our way. Dave DeBruyn

So sorry for your loss Terri and family. Jay was a friend, and a fun and respected "Boss" to me. Many fond memories and successful sales events together. Favorite story between us was our Dalmatian event. RIP Jay.

Jay was always fun and accommodating. I met him through his nephew Thomas when we were in college. My thoughts and prayers go the Family. Thank you Jay!

If this is the Jay Pearce who graduated from Mona Shores High School in Norton Shores, MI in 1965, we were classmates. I’m so terribly sad to hear of his passing. Jay was a great guy, and he was the heart-throb star of the show when our school put on the production of “Bye, Bye Birdie,” and he was a real heart-breaker in real life ! Everyone liked Jay! My condolences to his family.
