Jay Grant Ellsworth, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. Grant proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Plainfield Lumber after many years. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, traveling and woodworking. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Ellsworth; children: Cynthia (Gary) DeBoer, Jay Ellsworth; grandchildren: Emily (Donovan) Bursma, Elizabeth (Mike) Mennes, Alexandria Ellsworth, Austin Ellsworth; great grandchildren: Macey, Raiden, and William Mennes, Ryker Bursma; sisters: Della Murphy, Oma Werner. Grant was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Shirley Ellsworth. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022 at North Park Presbyterian Church, 500 North Park St. NE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Peggy Casteel-Hutson officiating. Relatives and friends may visit the family from 10 to 11a.m. on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to North Park Presbyterian. We send our condolences to the entire Ellsworth family. We remember Grant as a kind and helpful neighbor when we purchased our first home on Bailey Park Dr. in 1979.

I remember a very kind person that always seemed positive and upbeat. Mr. Ellsworth umpired little league baseball with my dad. My condolences to his family.

Peace maker is the word that comes to my mind when I remember Grant. I spent many hours with the Ellsworth family growing up and have very fond memories of camping, swimming, and Grants woodshop.
