Jay Bode

Jay Bode, age 98, of Wyoming, will be spending Easter in Heaven with his Lord. He passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020. Jay was a World War II veteran and served in the Army. He was a home builder for many years and in retirement, he volunteered with World Renew. Jay was a man of strong faith and served his church as both a deacon and an elder. He was a longtime member of Lee Street Christian Reformed Church. Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lucille Bode. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Leah and Sid Vander Ploeg, Sherry Bode, Rich and Bonnie Bode, Greg and Linda Bode, Randy and Lorraine Bode, Mary and Reed VanderSlik; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Koetje; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen Bode, Gert Bogard, Shirley Van Assen, Ethel and Bud Sikkema, Joyce and Ed Van Houten. Due to the current health concerns regarding COVID-19, a private family graveside will be held at Richland Township Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He will be missed dearly . I am thank full for the times we had together, especially when he offered advice and non judgmental listing. He was a great friend of my father, his Legacy will live on for many years to come.

Barb and I send our sympathy to Jay's family. In 1964 Jay worked for Bud Hawkins. They built our home which we still reside. Jay was a gentleman and a fantastic builder. Our paths seldom crossed but we never forgot his kindness . Eugene & Barbara Bonofiglo

My sympathy to the Bode family.. I wired many a house for Jay and the boys. Jay always had that slow but well thought out speech about what had to be done on the job. Many good memories of work done with Jay! Truly a man from the Greatest Generation!

My sincere sympathy to all your family upon Jay's passing. We were, of course, neighbors/friends with Jay and Lucille and the family for many years and my brother for one played with you all. I may have even babysat for some of you! I remember Jay as being such a nice man, and I know he was of great help to my mother with the house after Dad passed away.
