Jay Arend Stap, age 87, of Dorr  was called to his heavenly home on Friday, May 31 surrounded by his loving family.  Jay was preceded in death by; his brother, Elwyn “Bud” Stap.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Louise, and two sons; Steven Jay (Mary Lisa) Stap, Jeffrey Lee Stap;  grandchildren, Emily, Jay, Esther Stap; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Doris Vickers who was like a sister to Jay.  Jay was a hard working, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather.  He worked for 50 years at the Kindel Furniture Company manufacturing fine furniture.  Jay loved being outdoors and taking care of  his “hobby” farm and the garden.  He will be remembered for his love of going out to eat and his fondness for animals.  Due to Jay’s determination, hard work, physical and mental health he was able to be at home until the last couple of weeks of his illness.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 5 at 2:30 pm at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr SW.  Friends and relatives may meet the family from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at the funeral home.  Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens.
