Remembering Janna De Haan
Janna Margaret De Haan, age 81, of Wyoming, joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 3, 2026, peacefully at home with her family by her side. Janna was a loving wife, mother, and grandma. She and her husband, Dan, were inseparable through 57 years of marriage and they loved to travel near and abroad, collecting memories everywhere they went. She was born in Drenthe, Netherlands, and came to the United States at the age of 13 years old, earned her college degree, and taught first grade for many years until she left teaching to raise her family. Janna was a long-time member of Grace Bible Church where she loved to teach Sunday school classes, serve as a Deaconess, and sing in the choir. She had a faithful servant’s heart, giving generously of herself to her church and her family. Her warm smile and easy laughter reflected a joyful, colorful spirit that she carried with her always.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Daniel De Haan; children: Laura Homik, Darrel and Kalani De Haan; grandchildren: Leila and Tess De Haan; siblings: Diane Harkins, Annetta (Bob) Serulla; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Kyle Homik; grandson, Cooper De Haan; brother, Henrik Bouma; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Grace Bible Church, 3715 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, with Rev. Todd Kinde officiating. The burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 8, from 7-9 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grace Bible Church Missions Fund or Emmanuel Hospice.
