Janice Shelner

Janice “Jan” Shelner, age 76, of Jenison, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 8, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Florence Hall. Jan will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Steve; children and grandchildren, Chris Shelner and Yen Nguyen (Carly and Audrey Shelner), Sarah and Fred Droski (Amaya, Eden, Elias, and Aria Droski). Jan was loyal to her family; they were her greatest joy. She lovingly adored her children and her grandchildren and bragged about them any chance she got.

Jan was passionate about music, having played five different instruments throughout her life. Her love for music grew into becoming the organist for church and eventually the church choir director. It was because of her love for Jesus and music that she met the love of her life, Steve. Jan enjoyed singing and spent many years as the Jenison School’s accompanist.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids with Pastor Craig Bickel officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10-11 am at church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Corewell Health Hospice.
