Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Janice E. Haveman, age 76, of Grandville, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Janice was born April 4, 1946, in Bay City, MI to Aubrey and Kenetha Long. Janice was a 1967 graduate of Hurley School of Nursing. She worked as a midwife in rural Nigeria for 10 years. Over a period of 16 years, the family lived and worked in Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Kenya. From 1968 through 1984 they served with Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (now, World Renew). Over that time period they initiated nine relief and community development initiatives in six African countries. Returning to the States, she worked for United Health Care as a quality assurance nurse. From 1998 to 2004, the family accepted a position with Partners Worldwide/World Renew in post-apartheid South Africa. Janice completed a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration through Spring Arbor University in 2005. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and started a business of importing African products which eventually led to the establishment of Business Connect (www.businessconnectworld.). She loved the Lord. Janice was quiet in spirit, but strong in her beliefs, commitments, and was unfailingly loyal. She was the rock upon which the rest of the family found love, encouragement, and inspiration. Over the past eight years of declining health and strength, she never complained. Her relationships with family and friends went deep; she hosted and opened her home to many over the years. Janice will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Louis; children, Jeffrey (Rachel) Haveman, Natalie (Jereme) Lambert; seven grandchildren: Mikayla, Christopher, Nicholas, Rebecca, Alexander, Josiah, and Madalen; numerous extended family and friends. A visitation open house will be held at the family home on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 2-9 pm. The address is 3888 16th Ave SW, Grandville. Pictures, stories, food, and fellowship will be shared. Please stop in, all are welcome. A service of memory and celebration will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. with an hour of visitation prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to World Renew-Disaster Response Services (https://worldrenew.net/disaster-response-services) in her name are appreciated.
