Janet Ruth Poort, age 94, of Grandville, went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and grandson, Keith Eric Poort; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marinus and Marie Poort. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dianna and Chuck Hooper, Rick and Nancy Poort, Debra and Gary Groeneveld; grandchildren, Matthew and Tanja Hooper, Ryan and Heather Hooper, Kimberly and Seth Galentine, Jennifer and Brian Hansen, Julie Poort and Jeremy Dean, Jill and Jeff Panian, Justin and Caitlin Groeneveld, Kerri and Bob Van Houten, Katie and Kalen Smith, Jon Groeneveld; several great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. Janet loved her family and she faithfully served her Lord, church, and community. She was a kind and gentle woman and she will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Jack Klunder officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, December 21, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Compassion International or Kids Hope USA.
