Jane Frances Weaver (Weibel)
September 22, 1953 – February 9, 2026

Jane Frances Weaver (Weibel), 72, passed away on February 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by loyalty, laughter, resilience, and fierce love.

A proud 1971 graduate of Catholic Central High School, Jane was raised on Herman Avenue as part of one of the original “OG” families in a neighborhood that set the gold standard for community. Herman Ave was more than a street — it was a way of life. It was strong, family-like, and unwaveringly loyal. Doors were open, celebrations were frequent, and if someone needed help, the whole block showed up. That bond has now stretched across four generations, and Jane carried its spirit with her everywhere she went.

Jane was giving, intelligent, and unapologetically outspoken. She could read people like a book and rarely misjudged a situation. She was sharp-witted, deeply funny, and never afraid to say what others were thinking. She loved hard — her family, her friends, her people — and if you were hers, you knew it.

In 1979, she welcomed her daughter, Sara, into the world — beginning a powerful mother-daughter duo that defined the next chapter of her life. After divorcing in 1981, Jane faced the world the way she always did: as a fighter. Independent, determined, and fiercely protective, she built a life centered on strength and love.

Then came the “Lonnie Era.”

Jane met the love of her life, Lonnie, at a Herman Avenue wedding — proof that the neighborhood that shaped her still had more gifts to give. What began at a celebration became a partnership that lasted 38 years. When Lonnie joined Jane and Sara, the duo became whole. His steady love and presence only enhanced the strength, humor, and loyalty that already defined them. Together, they built a marriage rooted in commitment, laughter, and unwavering support.

Jane worked hard throughout her life. The “Wards Era” at Montgomery Wards remains legendary in the Weibel family, filled with stories of dedication and camaraderie. She later worked at Hershey’s — a job she genuinely loved and one her family appreciated thanks to a steady stream of candy and samples. She retired from Trinity Health as a medical biller, closing her career as she lived it: dependable, hardworking, and respected.

She was known for her independent spirit and refusal to live quietly. Whether speaking her mind, sharing one of her many colorful (and often unprintable) phrases, or attempting to discreetly cultivate certain “plants” in the neighborhood — only to have them mowed down or trimmed by unsuspecting hands — Jane lived life on her own terms. Those stories now live on as family folklore, told with laughter and affection.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Jeanne Weibel; her siblings, Tom Weibel and Mary Jo Sturm; and her brother-in-law, John Schwartz.

Left to carry on her legacy are her husband of 38 years, Lonnie; her daughter, Sara (Dan); her beloved grandchildren, Dominick and Matthew; and her siblings, Tim (Sheila) Weibel, Sue Schwartz, Dan (Colleen) Weibel, and Bill Weibel. She also leaves behind 18 amazing nieces and nephews, whom she loved deeply, and 26 grand-nieces and grand-nephews who brought immeasurable joy to her heart.

From one little (big) Bill and Jeanne Weibel family on Herman Avenue has grown a beautiful, expansive legacy — one built on loyalty, laughter, resilience, and love. Jane’s ripple effect will continue through every branch of that family tree.

So put them nuts in, they is good, too.

Jane and I were friends during high school. She was a W and I was a Z. She was a strong force even then. I have fond memories of our times together, she was always willing to drive so we’d all chip in 50 cents to put in the tank. To her family, I am so sorry for your loss.

Always a smile and a laugh ...I have such wonderful memories of Jane. When I first moved to GRR Jane and I worked at Marianne's together, or I should say we laughed together !!!. It was just a short time but our friendship continued for many years ..even when I moved away I would return for a visit and spent many a Thanksgiving Holiday with Jane and all the family. One time we stayed up all night drinking (something awful) in the garage while everyone was in the house sleeping and when the sun came up we walked to a donut shop and hung out in their kitchen until the first batch was done ..it was nuts and just one of those times that "you just needed to be there " to appreciate. So very grateful for those times and the memories my friend. Big hugs to all

I always looked up to Janie as a Herman Street kid. She was always so nice to me. She gave me her Barbie Doll collection when someone took some of mine. She was my confirmation sponsor and I’m sure I got something cool from “Lerners”. Later, as an adult, she always called me “Terri DeBoer” because she thought I looked like her. At block parties she tried to fool unsuspecting strangers into believing it. I played along of course. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will carry on inside everyone that knew her. Cheers to sunny days ahead my friend ☀️
