We moved into De La Mesa about 4 years ago. We had heard about Jim and Sandy and came to know this ever ready battery tiny lady always bouncing here and there and taking great care of her husband. In greeting her throughout ours years here , I would always ask and she would update us on Jim. We never had the pleasure of meeting him but through Sandy and our neighbors we knew him and his heart and the love of the two. God's open arms have welcomed you into his heart and the Gates of Heaven. Don't worry about Sandy, you left her in good hands with wonderful people. Blessings and love to Sandy and the family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim after he and Sandy moved to our little de la Mesa neighborhood a little over two years ago. Needless to say, Jim had challenges since he could not talk verbally, but after spending a little time around him, it was soon evident that he was fully able to let you know exactly what he wanted. What he didn’t want was any help with putting his 500 piece puzzle together. That man amazed me that he was able to build puzzle after puzzle on that little table he had in front of him — all while watching M*A*S*H or Mayberry RFD. He was in his comfort zone. When I would pop in and say hi, he would get a big smile on his face and say hi, then it was back to “work” for him. I will always remember the way Sandy had everything on a schedule for him so he had the ability to rely on his every need being met. I had the special pleasure of helping care for Jim when Sandy was undergoing a big problem with a tooth — that was a big challenge for Jim and I, but we quick realized that patience was going to be our friend and helper so we could figure things out. He always remembered to say thank you to me. I will never forget those days of our becoming friends. I have missed Jim and his smile in our little neighborhood and I am going to miss not seeing him again around on our shuffleboard court when we go. Doug and I will both miss you, Jim, but you will remain in our prayers for Gods eternal peace. We look forward to the day when we can sit with you again and have a little chat. Until that day …..

Jim was always a mountain of a man in so many ways. His tall stature was only the start. Jim’s great intellect and grasp of numbers combined with his love and care to help people with their finances, made his contributions with the Financial Peace classes at Bella Vista Church along with Dale Dalman, a very needed and helpful ministry. And this was just the start. Jim was part of an Eteam (encouragement team) that I was part of with him and a group of men who studied scripture and did life together. I miss hearing Jim’s insightful comments and quick wit. Looking forward to forever fellowship in heaven someday with you Jim and all the saints worshipping our Lord.
