James Thomas DeFouw, age 90, of Caledonia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2019. James was a hardworking and loving father. He loved tinkering and had a gift of helping others to fix anything that was needed. He proudly served our country as a U. S. Marine. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; and brother, Bob DeFouw. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Tom and Joni DeFouw, Kevin and Ginny DeFouw; grandchildren, Matt and Erin DeFouw, Kyle DeFouw, Megan and Josh Depew, Kristin and Dave Nieboer, Shannon and Blane Sluiter, Patrick and Macy DeFouw; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor DeGraaf and Barb Bouwman; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, October 28 at Providence Christian Reformed Church, 7730 Eastern Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. J.B. Wernlund officiating.  Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-7 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood.
