James Strating

James Duane Strating, age 80, of Hudsonville, passed away at Brookcrest Nursing Home on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 and went to be with his Lord and Savior.  Jim was born on March 2, 1940 in Jenison, MI to Jake and Rena (Hopp) Strating.  He retired from the Ottawa County Road Commission where he worked for 32 years.   He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Russ Schut; brother, Rol Strating.  Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Sharon (Nagel); four children, Kim and Jeff Salisbury, Tammy and Bruce Wiers, Duane and Rhonda Strating, Mari and Jason Klinger; grandchildren, Amanda and Dave Bouwkamp, Steve and Kelli Salisbury, Kristin and Jason Hunderman, Ellen and Cameron Beidler, Ben Wiers, Luke Wiers, Kami Strating, Alex and Hannah Strating, Alexis Syswerda, Danielle Syswerda; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon and Claude Meppelink; sister-in-law, Jo Strating; several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 2, 2020 at North Blendon Reformed Church, 7224 Taylor St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Ron Lugten officiating.  Burial Floral View Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-5 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to North Blendon Reformed Church or Emmanuel Hospice.
