James R. Van Oeveren

James Roy Van Oeveren, age 68, of Grandville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 17, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Stelma. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Karen; children, Wendy and Brad Brink, Ryan and Tami Van Oeveren, Erin Stelma; grandchildren, Alisha, Cory, Hannah, Zack, Claire, Cole, Hailey, Andrew, Nicholas, and Blake; siblings and in-laws, Thomas and Salee Van Oeveren, Daniel and Mary Van Oeveren, Julie and Kenneth Ploeg; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ginny and David Vidro; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends . Jim proudly served in the US Air Force. He was a hard-working family man who meant something special to each one of his grandchildren. Jim enjoyed fishing and sports, but most of all his family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Harbor Life Church, 3085 Wallace Ave. SW, Grandville.  Interment Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. and Monday from 12:00-12:45 p.m. at  the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.
