James Perry Felch, loving husband, father, and devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, passed away on Thursday, December 13th, at the age of 62.

Jim was born on June 18th, 1956, in Bay City Michigan. He enjoyed a childhood outdoors with five siblings, picking blueberries, raising chickens, and keeping a huge vegetable garden, a hobby he continued every summer with his own children. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Michigan Technological University in 1977, leading to a life-long career as a field service engineer that allowed him to travel the world, working on every continent but Antartica. On a trip to Korea he met his wife InSoon, and their union blessed him with his daughter Rebekah and stepson Churu.

Jim will be remembered as a gregarious friend and neighbor. He was the man at the barbecue giving pontoon rides down Thornapple River, and he got a kick out of surprising his guests with the boom of fireworks. He was the brother to play cards with late into a holiday night. He was the friend who was always down for a fishing tournament, and was forever trying to get you out on the lake. Jim enjoyed brotherhood and service with the Knights of Columbus #7341, and a regular, early-morning prayer group to deepen his relationship with Jesus Christ.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Perry Felch and Delores Ann (née DeHate) Felch, and two brothers, Jay Louis (Wendee) Felch, and Dennis John (Cheryl) Felch. He is survived by his wife InSoon, his stepson Churu (Ashley) Yun, his daughter Rebekah Dew Felch, granddaughter Fero Mirinae Yun, grandson Escher Paul Yun, his brother Neal Patrick (Ruth) Felch, his sisters Celine Marie (Patrick) Ryan, and Nancy Ann Felch, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Caledonia, 9669 Kraft Ave. SE, on Tuesday, December 18th, at 11 a.m. There will be a visitation at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home in Caledonia, 616 E. Main St., on Monday December 17th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Will always remember the times we spent fishing and talking when I worked on the house. Jim was a great guy and will be missed by many. Thoughts are with everyone.
