James Edward Nagelkirk, age 76, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, May 30, 2022. Jim was a loving dad and grandpa who dearly loved his family. He lived his life by example and demonstrated his love for Jesus in his daily walk. Jim displayed this literally with the many hats and shirts that he wore that proclaimed the name of Jesus. He had the gift of conversation and could instantly make a friendship with anyone he would meet. Jim retired from Herman Miller after 30 years of faithful service. Following his retirement, he worked for Meijer, in Jenison, for the past 13 years, establishing many friendships with co-workers and customers. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in his flower gardens, and a day out on the lake fishing. Above all, his legacy of faith and his love for Jesus will be forever cherished. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Dawn and Chad Williams, Darl and Julie Nagelkirk, Deb and Brett Higby; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; loving brother and sisters, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Nagelkirk. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Matthew Palsrok officiating. The burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.

Nearly 2 years late, but this just popped up in my search results. I’m so sorry to hear that Jim has passed. I worked with him 30 years ago as the 2nd shift supervisor in the cut/sew department. I have a beautiful poem that he wrote for me and treasure it so much. He was a really good man. I’ll never forget him.

As you walk through the gates of Heaven and see God's beautiful gardens in all their glory resist the temptation to pull some weeds. You won't find any.
My deepest sympathy for the family and friends of this wonderful man. May you find peace in this difficult time.
