Remembering James J. Smith

James J. Smith, age 92, of Grandville, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Donna; daughter, Melissa Symanski; his grandchild and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Mars Hill Bible Church, 3501 Fairlanes Ave. SW, Grandville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice in Jim’s memory.

Jim was the BEST neighbor! He would drop off fresh produce, chat for a few minutes, show us the latest craft that Donna had made. He came up with competition games for the neighborhood kids, and he made awesome kites for my grandsons! He loved the Lord and loved to share that!! Donna, our hearts go out to you. Jim and Donna give us a warm welcome when we moved in 15 years ago. Jim was always around if we needed anything. Jim had this laugh would make me laugh every time I would hear it. I’m going to miss you my friend 😢

Jim was always the first to get his U of M flag flying on game day. He was always there for any neighbor in need. He will be missed.
