Remembering James E. Vander Wal
James E. Vander Wal, age 91, of Allendale, passed away and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger; his brothers, Ed and Bill Vander Wal; and his sister, Margaret Vander Wal. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Hilda; children, Gary (Deb) Vander Wal, Kenneth (Deanna) Vander Wal, Randall (Sherri) Vander Wal, Dennis (Laura) Vander Wal, Douglas (Rosemary) Vander Wal, Calvin (Lilia) Vander Wal, Kurtis (Jill) Vander Wal; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Martin Vander Muelen; sister-in-law, Mildred Eisen. James proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from Packaging Corporation of America after 38 years. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11 a.m at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St., with Rev. Bruce Persenaire officiating. Inurnment will be held at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday, March 2, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
