James David Sichterman, age 79, of Kentwood, was called home to the arms of Jesus, on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Sichterman and brother, Steven Sichterman. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Carol; children, Ann and Edward Winkler, David J. and Colleen Sichterman; grandchildren, Alyssa and Andrew Winkler, Olivia (Luke) Drejewski and Dane Sichterman. Jim was a warm, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. Jim valiantly served his country in the US Air Force. He volunteered as a Kentwood Volunteer in Police Service (VIPS) for 15 years. Jim also enjoyed playing golf and traveling through all 50 states, Europe and Alaska. He and Carol took many cruises through the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Jim was a hard-working salesman having worked for Campbell Soup Company, Leaf Candy Co., and JC Penney. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Monday, July 12 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Peter Vu officiating. Burial Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 5 - 8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood and on Monday from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions to Kentwood Volunteer in Police Service or St. Mary Magdalen Church.
