James C. VandenBand

James Carl VandenBand, age 90, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, just two days before his 91st birthday. Jim was a Korean War veteran who proudly served his country in the US Army. He was blessed with a strong work ethic, working as a brick mason for many years until he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Ellen; children, Barb and Gary Schepers, Bruce VandenBand, Beth and Harv Veldhouse, Bonnie and Steve Schild, Brian and Kathie VandenBand; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roy and Sandie DeHamer, Carole and Ron Hilbrands; several loving nieces and nephews. Everyone is invited to join the family for a graveside service with military honors on Saturday, June 13, 10 am at Floral View Memorial Gardens, 0-5371 8th Ave, Grandville.  The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Lakeside Vista in Holland and Faith Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Jim.
