October 12, 2025

Jack Eugene Dietz, 78, of Byron Center, passed away and is now at peace on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and later fought a courageous battle against melanoma for over 8 years. He was a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend whose kindness, work ethic, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. He was a man who believed in hard work, retiring after over 38 years from General Motors. He loved woodworking, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a very generous man, wanting to make sure everyone was taken care of. He shared his many skills and wisdom, generously teaching those around him to fix, build and create – not just with their hands, but with their heart. His lessons went far beyond tools or tasks; they were lessons in perseverance and love.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Sharon; daughters: Tamara (Jesse) Lopez, Wendy (Andy) Bouwens; grandchildren: Taylor (Sarah) Clark, Kayleigh Clark, Ryley (Tony) Bartosiewicz, Nolan Bouwens, Delaney Bouwens, Jaelynn Lopez, Jessica Lopez, Brittany (Jeff) Dietz; great grandchildren: Jaxen and Colten Clark, Treysen and Emersyn DeBoer, Jordyn Brew, Lincoln and Kashton Bartosiewicz, Roman and Rocco Dietz; sisters: Bette Jack, Connie (Harry) Dearden, Dawn Lown, Brenda Dietz; sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law: Marian Vos, Sue Rinck, Tom (Tami) Amante; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Verna Dietz; sister, Bonnie Dietz; parents-in-law, John and June Amante; brother-in-law, Johnny Amante.

Jack was so kind to me after my husband died. He always incuded me in social activities. He was my first go-to person when I had any issues at my cottage in Sand Lake. I will miss him.
