Jack A. Vande Bunte

Jack A. Vande Bunte, age 84, of Rockford, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, June 17, 2024. Jack was a kind and loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He grew up in Hudsonville and graduated from Unity Christian High School and Calvin University. Jack later went on to receive his Law degree from Valparaiso University. Jack served as an Ottawa County Probate Judge for 12 years and served his community as an attorney in the West Michigan area for many years. Following retirement, he and his wife, Margaret, enjoyed traveling, cruises, and spending winters in different places around the world. He had a love of sports, especially golf. Jack was a University of Michigan fan, but was a strong supporter of his alma mater, Calvin University Knights. He was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Van Eerden, and his beloved dog, Maggie. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 24 years, Margaret; children, Jack M. Vande Bunte, David J. and Sara Vande Bunte, Daniel J. and Victoria Vande Bunte, Steven M. and Jessica Vande Bunte; step-daughters, Carrie and Tony De Mull, Minda and Kevin DeHaven; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas G. and Gail Vande Bunte, and Gail E. Vande Bunte; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Courtland-Oakfield United Methodist Church, 10295 Myers Lake Ave. Rockford with Pastor Bob Stover officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to an organization of one’s choice.
