Remembering Ida Jean Vander Poppen

Ida Jean Vander Poppen, age 95, of Grandville passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 27, 2018, and is now resting in the arms of Jesus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl “Curly”; brother, John C. Pahl. Ida Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children, William Dries (Mary) Vander Poppen, Jan (Steven) Sullivan, Kristan “Kit” Vander Poppen, Edward Kurt (Nancy) Vander Poppen; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at the Grandville United Methodist Church, 3140 Wilson Avenue SW, with Rev. Ryan Wieland officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Grandville United Methodist Church Building Fund.

as i was reading my Sunday paper, i came across the obituary for your mom. With it not being a common name, I proceeded to read it and saw names that i recognized. As a small child in Middleville, i remember your mom being a loving and kind woman (as were all of you in the family). It has been many years since seeing anyone, but I still have memories. I'm sorry for your loss. When we lose our loved one in death, it is considered the most difficult time in our life. However, there is loving comfort in Psalms 55:22 that encourages us to ‘throw our burden on God and he will sustain you..’ Yes, no matter what you are facing, God is always there to help you get through it (1 Corinthians 10:13; Isaiah 40:29-31). I sincerely hope that these promises from the Bible bring you a measure of comfort during this difficult time.
