Howard R. Acheson Jr.

Howard R. Acheson Jr., age 78 of Lowell, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Howard, fondly known as Howie, was born to Howard R. Acheson Sr. and Shirley (Dennick) Acheson, on September 2, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After graduating from Davenport, Howard worked at Amway in data processing for 35 plus years. He also started his own tax preparation business that he successfully ran for over 50 years. In his free time Howie enjoyed laughing and joking while playing card games with friends. Howie was also a sports enthusiast, especially enjoying U of M Football. Howie is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gail Acheson (Phillips); his daughter, Karen (Todd) Knoop; son, Ron Acheson; his grandchildren, Logan Acheson, Ella Acheson, Alex Ham, Brady Acheson, and Sadie Acheson; dearest cousin, Russ (Gale) Rose; dear friend, Zane DeBoer; and many nieces and nephews. Aside from his love for sports, Howie was passionate about giving back. His favorite holiday activity was playing Santa Claus at the Amway Christmas Party for the many years that he worked there. Howie’s greatest joy came from the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his love and quick wit with them. He taught them how to play many card games and occasionally, he would let them win. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 27th, at 11:00 AM, at Lowell United Methodist Church, 621 E Main St Lowell, MI 49331, followed by a time to gather with the family during lunch at the church.
