Howard “Howie” D. Glupker, age 81, of Jenison, ran into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. He had totally surrendered himself to the Father’s will for his departure and is now finally home with his Savior. Howie was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who was devoted to his family. Howie was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country. Following his military service, he received his master’s degree from Western Michigan University where he then began his career in education. Howie was a teacher, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Director at Byron Center High School retiring after 32 years of faithful service. He was an accomplished and active athlete himself who was still playing slow pitch softball at age 81. He was an avid sports enthusiast who was actively involved in coaching and mentoring young athletes. He had a determined love of the game, but more importantly had a heart for the relationship with the athletes, many who have said they would “run through a wall for Coach Glupker”. Following retirement, he stayed active in the sports community. Many relationships and friendships were made statewide over the years with his involvement in the high school sports network. Above all, his love for Jesus, commitment to his family, and his joy of serving others was evident to all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Betty (Isenga); his children, Michelle and Scott Agers and their children, Brooke and her daughter, Emery Bower, Alexis, and Dalton; Tricia and Steve Tandy and their children, Samantha, Jacob, Nathan, and Abigail; brother, Gerald Glupker; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry Isenga, Mark Isenga, Joyce Isenga, and Chris Isenga; several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Chapel Pointe, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville with Pastor Bob Bloom officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice or Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center.
