Howard Batey

Howard James Batey, aged 89 of Jenison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Margaret Batey; brother, Richard Batey; and sister, Geraine Schmuker.  He is survived by his loving sisters, Marilyn (Ernest) Volk, LuAnn (Gary) Robinson; a very special, loving and caring niece, Renee Heald who was always there for him; his “Guardian Angel,” a very special friend and loving caregiver, Milessa Kolasa; brother-in-law, Gordon Schmuker; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Howard loved his job at the Keebler Co. for 47 years.  He also donated his time to deliver Meals on Wheels.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Legion of Mary.  His special personality and sense of humor were truly unique.  He was always gracious and had the heart of an angel.  His identifying traits were his solid, reverent love of God and family.  Howard’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff and caregivers at American House in Jenison and Spectrum Hospice for their compassionate care.  A graveside service for Howard was held on Monday, June 22, at Resurrection Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmelite Order.
