Hiram “Butch” Edward Shaver Jr.

Hiram “Butch” Edward Shaver Jr., age 78, of Hudsonville, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 26, 2023. He was born August 7, 1945, to the late Hiram and Donna Shaver. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, two brothers, and his granddaughter, Katie (Shaver) McNeil. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Betty Shaver; son, Donald (Denise) Shaver; daughters, Roxanne (Mike) Skoboda, Elizabeth (Jon) Karnes, Suzanne (Rex) Hard; grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Shaver, Ashley Shaver, Arik Hard, Justin (Sara) Shaver, Nathan Skoboda, Nicholas (Kim) Shaver, Ethan (Jozlyn) Karnes, Mason (Lydia) Karnes, Hayden Karnes, Jada (Collin) Brown, Savanah Karnes; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Cece, Payton, Beau, Wyatt, Katelyn, Clementine, Emma; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Butch was a hard worker, loved spending time with his family, fishing, sharing his faith with others, helping other people and was known to be quite the prankster. Butch’s family is extremely grateful for the additional years they were able to spend together following a surgery that left him paralyzed 11 years ago. Butch said no to fate and defied the impossible. Butch lived the verse; Isaiah 41:10. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
