Herman Scholten

Herman Scholten, age 92, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian; sisters, Trena Piper and Fannie Terpstra; brothers, Gerrit, and Bernard Scholten; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who treasured his family.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jo; his children, Kathi and Jerry Van Manen, James and Teresa Scholten, Phil and Diane Scholten, Mark and Nancy Scholten, John and Alice Scholten; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; his step children, Craig and Sheryl Berkenpas, Dave and Judy Hintz, Vicki Bridges; 4 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce Scholten, Bernice Ritzema, Edward Scholten, John and Jo Vander Weide, Barb Hoekwater, Bob and Lucille Metz, Jesse Curley, Marilyn Vander Weide, Stephen and Debra Vander Weide, Jenny Dykstra, Ralph and Evie Veenstra, Dennis and Peggy Vredevoogd; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 6 pm at Bethel United Reformed Church, 2025 Baldwin, Jenison, with Rev. Steve Postma and Aaron Van Manen officiating.  A private family graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service at Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-5 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Crossroads Bible Institute.
