Our condolences to the entire family. Before Covid, we sat near Herm almost every Sunday at Trinity and spoke with him often. He was always very upbeat and friendly. When Covid hit, I spoke with Herm several times and visited him once at his home. He always assured me that he was doing fine and I didn't have to worry about him. He told me he was keeping busy and that his kids (& grandkids) were looking out for him too! He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Craig & Kathy Flietstra

I feel honored to have met Grandpa VanLaar. Enjoyed the time we spent working together on pizza crusts. I will miss his help and his wit. Rest in peace.
