Rev. Henry T. Karsten, December 25, 1931 to April 26, 2021, died at his home in Visalia, California. A man of great faith, he entered into eternal life after a lifetime of service to his God, his wife and family, and his church. He is survived by his loving spouse of sixty-six years, Evelyn Petroelje Karsten; his daughter-in-law, Sheri Laninga (Fennville, MI); daughter, Mary Sybesma (Visalia, CA); son, Paul Karsten (Grand Rapids, MI); and daughter, Ruth DeBoer (Lynden, WA); thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and his sister, Winona Vander West (Grand Rapids, MI).
Henry is preceded in death by his son, Mark Karsten; his parents, Winifred Dykema Karsten and Anthony (Tony) Karsten; and his brother, Harvey Karsten. A memorial service is being conducted at the Visalia Christian Reformed Church in Visalia, CA on Saturday, May 1, 2021. He will be buried next to his son Mark, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI. A service in Grand Rapids celebrating his life is being planned at a future date. A more formal announcement regarding this celebration will be made at that time.
