Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Henry Katerberg, age 65, of Allendale, passed away unexpectedly to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Hank was a devoted father, proud papa, beloved brother, and loyal friend. Born and raised in Jenison, he developed a passion for landscaping early in life, starting his own business at just 16 years old. His strong sense of independence and creative vision allowed him to transform outdoor spaces, always able to see the beauty in the finished work. Every job was done with pride and care, and he was known for his dedication and work ethic.
Hank was a provider in every sense of the word—committed to caring for his family and steadfast in his beliefs. Through his work, he touched the lives of many in his community, always willing to lend a hand and serve others. Beneath his rugged exterior was a tender heart—a true teddy bear, even if he wouldn’t admit it.
He cherished time with his family and embraced every adventure they shared together. In his rare moments of rest, he found joy in fishing and cheering on his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hank's presence was a gift, and his legacy of love, strength, and service will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Henrietta Katerberg; stepmother, Meda Katerberg; brothers, John Katerberg, Bert Katerberg, Bernie Katerberg; sister and brother-in-law, Henrietta and Glenn Ingalls; and nephew, Brandon Lowe.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri; stepchildren, Matthew Hoffman, Michael Hoffman, Codey Hoffman; children, Kandi Katerberg and her significant other Zac, Jon Katerberg and his partner Victoria, and their mother, Lori Katerberg; granddaughter, Lily DeJong; sister, Deane and Jim Koetsier; sister-in-law, Joyce Katerberg; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
