He was an active member at Lee Street Christian Reformed Church in Wyoming, MI for 63 years, where he served as a deacon and elder for many years. Henry was a faithful servant of the Lord and a Godly example of humility, grace and generosity. He was a great role model to his family and all who knew him. He always encouraged faith and love, and desired that everyone know Jesus. Special appreciation is extended to those who assisted with his loving care in his final days: Patience, Tara, Mary, Jessica and grandson, Ben. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 am at Lee Street Christian Reformed Church, 1261 Lee St. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Kent Rottman officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW and on Thursday from 10-10:45 am at the church prior to the service. From my 60+ years of watching church leaders, there are 2 people who come to mind as the prototype of everything a church Elder should be, and Henry is one of them. All God's blessings in this time of parting on Lois, Luanne and Jim, Dave and Dianne, Sheri, and even the grandsons (Henry and Jonathan) who put up with me as a Catechism teacher.
