Helen Marie Vogelaar (Neelis), age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Helen was born in Cheboygan, Michigan on December 4, 1930. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved staying active with her family and also enjoyed supporting the Detroit Tigers. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willard G. Vogelaar of 61 years; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Tom Sullivan, Marietta and Gene Churchill, and John VanderMeer. She will be lovingly remembered by her six children; Gary Vogelaar, Greg and MariAnne Vogelaar, Jill and Bob TeBos, Jayne and David Scott, Judy and Tom DeMaat, and Jackie Vogelaar; grandchildren Ryan, Lindsey, Courtney, Matthew,  Shayley,  Addi, Abbey, Luke, Chris and Sara, Alex and LeighAnn, Nick and Erin, Audrey, Clint and Zach, Jake and Sarah, Grayce and Matt, Wil, Joel, Margaret and JD, Peter and Alyssa, Lydia, Seth, Sarah, Anai, Ila, Cardyn; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy and Tom Bauer, Marie and Don McWatters, Thelma VanderMeer; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was a Godly woman and prayer warrior and a longtime member of Calvary Reformed Church. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Interment Garfield Park Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home and also on Saturday from 10-11 am prior to the service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
