Helen Louise DeVries

Helen Louise DeVries, age 75, of Grandville, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 12, 2015. The heavens are gaining an angel in life and beyond. Helen dedicated her life to caring for others. She gracefully took care of her husband on his journey to be with God. She has been a compassionate caregiver and friend for many, both for family and strangers, throughout her life. May she be free of pain and have peace as she joins those waiting for her in heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband, John and her parents, Harvey and Nellie (Puite) Marvin. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sharon and Bruce Born, Daniel and Kimberly DeVries, Stanley and Vicenta DeVries; grandchildren, Oren and Betty DeVries, Logan DeVries, Eric and Michelle Born, Rachel Born and fiancé, Alex Stoddard; sisters and brother, Ila Teeters, Neta and Tim Graf, Paul and Joanne Marvin, Ruth and Randy Stevenson; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 AM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW with Rev. Lee Buer and Rev. Tom Couch officiating. Interment at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.

We were so sorry that we were out of town and could not attend the service for Helen. She was such a caring and loving person. We know she is enjoying being with her Lord and loved ones including John today. You can rejoice in the fact that she belonged to her Savior and showed it in many ways. Our love and prayers to out for you all. We will miss her. May you have the peace and comfort only God can give.

Our deepest condolences on the loss of Helen. She was our neighbor at the Villas at Rivertown. She touched many lives in the various activities and neighborly things she did for others. She loved all of our activities and was so instrumental in the planning of so many of them. We are so fortunate that Helen touched our lives.
