Helen L. Mitas

Helen L. Mitas, age 88, of Rockford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew E. Mitas; son, David John Mitas; grandson, Spencer Mitas; sister, Mary Kozier; brothers, George Liko and Michael Liko. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tom and Julia Mitas, Marsha and Bob Dood, Andy and Solange Mitas; grandchildren, Lindsey Larsen, Rob Dood MD, Parker Mitas; great granddaughter, Ellie Larsen; sisters, Ann Wycich, Betty and Charles Leftault; sisters-in-law, Martha Grottenthaler, Cecilia Liko; many nieces and nephews. Helen was known to be a good listener and caring friend.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and travel - and she loved a good cup of coffee! The family wishes to thank the kind staff at Maple Creek and Gentiva Hospice for all of their compassionate love and care. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 9 at 11 am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 6369 Belmont Ave. NE, Belmont, with Fr. Tony Pelak Celebrant. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Love INC or Social Concerns Ministries at Assumption BVM.
