Remembering Heine Maring
Maring, Heine Heine Maring, age 91, of Jenison, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 27, 2012. On Christmas Day, 1920, God brought Heine Maring into this world. Little did his parents, Nicholas and Cornelia Maring, and siblings know what a gift he would be in their lives and to future generations of loved ones. His family gives God all the glory and praise for blessing them with such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Heine was a hard worker and gifted in cabinet making and woodworking. When his children were young, they had lots of fun in the playhouse he built and driving the go-cart he made. Each of his children have items in their homes that were hand-made by Heine. He enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing for blue gill and perch, and his family enjoyed eating what he brought home. He grew up on farmland and every summer his wife and children enjoyed the produce from the garden he planted. Most important, Heine was the spiritual leader of his home. Throughout his life, he demonstrated all of the Fruits of the Spirit as are found in Galatians 5:22 “…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.” His family is thankful that his earthly struggles are over. He was ready to go home to be with his Lord and had expressed that many times while he was still able to speak. Now he is at peace in heaven. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Katerberg; brothers and sisters, Harry Maring, Jeannette Timmer, Jane Clark, Sally Peterson and William Maring. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years, Deane (VanVels); children, Joyce Katerberg, Jayne and Tom Wierenga, Nancy and Fred Stalsonburg, Dave and Judy Maring; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Marie Balfoort, Ruth and Jake Theule, Tony and Ann Maring of CA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann Maring, Louise Maring, Jane and Bill VanderWerf of FL, Ruth and Lyn Brouwer, Joyce VanVels; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 1 pm on Thursday at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison with Rev. Gerard Van Groningen officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jenison Christian School.
