Hazel Syswerda

SYSWERDA - Mrs. Hazel May Syswerda (Shultz), faithful servant of God, passed away on April 19, 2015 at the age of 93. She was known as Grandma Hazel to many, many children. Hazel was always quick with a smile, a hug and a purse full of candy for the kids. She was preceded in death by her precious grandsons, Paul and Caleb. Surviving are her husband of 73 years, Fred; children, Kathy (Gary) Douma, Beth (David) Butterbaugh, Fred (Valerie) Syswerda, Mark (Linda) Syswerda; 24 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edith Kruisenga; several nieces and nephews. God gifted Hazel with musical abilities which she used to faithfully serve God and bless others. She was a charter member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Wyoming where she served as the church organist for 35 years. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Immanuel CRC, 33 Elwell St. SW. The family will greet relatives and friends, Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave., Wyoming and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment Restlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the D.O.C.K. ministries which was dear to Hazel's heart.
