Harvey Redder

Harvey Redder, age 85, of Allendale went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was born at home on 112th Ave. in West Olive Township, graduated from Zeeland High School, and worked at H&S Die for many years. Harvey enjoyed racing at Berlin and Kalamazoo Raceways from 1959-1979. He loved to tinker on old cars and tractors and rebuilt many Model A’s which were his specialty, among plenty of other old Fords. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ruth; son, Steven Redder; and sisters, Shirley Martin and Helena Herrington. Harvey will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Norman Redder, Terry (Linda Perry) Redder; stepson, Kevin Perin; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally Blackwood; nieces and nephews; and many, many friends from church family to old car enthusiasts. A special shout out to John, Donna, Lou, and the whole gang at Van’s Pastry in Grand Rapids where he went for hymn sings every Monday morning pre-Covid. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on October 12, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. with Rev. Lew VanderMeer officiating. Burial will take place at Olive Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, October 11 from 4-6 pm at the funeral home and from 10-11 am prior to the service.
