Harmina “Mike” (Pluger) Sjoerdsma, age 88, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She was born on January 11, 1937, in Highland Township, MI, to the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Ellens) Pluger. Mike was a kind and loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma who always put others before herself and would always have a friendly hug when she greeted you. She worked at Keeler Brass, where she met the love of her life, Dave, and the two were married on March 6, 1959. A charter member of Cottonwood Church, she faithfully served in many ways and was especially known for her thoughtful card ministry and her years as church custodian. She shared her gift of hospitality generously, often blessing others with visits and her many baked goods. She enjoyed camping, bowling, and following Detroit Tigers baseball, and she lovingly kept track of the family tree. Above all, her love for her family and her love for Jesus were the most important parts of her life. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Sjoerdsma; son-in-law, Aaron Williams; great-grandson, Charlie Sjoerdsma; sister, Judy DeHaan; brother, Harv Pluger; brothers-in-law, Gary DeHaan, Bob De Young, Art Sjoerdsma, Bob Sjoerdsma; sisters-in-law, Pat Naber, Judy Sjoerdsma, Jean Sjoerdsma.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dave Sjoerdsma; children, Tammy (Bill) DeVree, Kathy (Mike) Walters, Cindy (Bryan) Zandstra, Jodi (Tim) Lemon; grandchildren, Nate (Kirsten) DeVree, Stephanie (Rob) Witteveen, Elizabeth (Josh) Littell, Sarah (Andy) Schafer, Ben (MacKenzy) Scott, TJ Sjoerdsma, Technical Sergeant Bradley (Katie) Schreer, Travis (Emma) Schreer, Cody (Jamie) Schreer, Kyle Williams, Nick (Sabrie) Williams, Seth Williams; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Clara DeVree, Anderson and Matthias Witteveen, Isaac and Avalynn Schafer, Jake Sjoerdsma, Kora Schreer, and baby boy Schreer; sisters, Leone De Young, Marge (Dale) Brinks, Jean (Karl) Webster; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Thelma Pluger, Hennie Sjoerdsma, Erwin (Nancy) Naber; several bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress Dr., Jenison, with Rev. Matt Palsrok officiating. The burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 6, from 2-5 p.m. at Cottonwood Church and on Sunday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Cottonwood Church.
