Harley Lucy Guajardo

Harley Lucy Guajardo, age 7 months, passed on into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 7, 2020.  Nine years of prayers were answered with the birth of our miracle baby, Harley.  Born at 23 weeks, she fought daily battles in the NICU at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital with her parents by her side and her extended family supporting them in love and prayer.  Even though many of her family members were never able to meet her in person, she was a blessing to her many family and friends.  After seven months, her parents made the difficult decision to place her on hospice care and surrender her to our risen Lord and Savior.  She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Joe Guajardo; great-grandparents, Gregorio and Cecilia Barreto, and Gilbert and Grace Schimmel. Harley will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Daniel and Naomi; grandparents, James and Carol Schimmel, Lucy Guajardo; aunts and uncles, Joe Guajardo, Anthony Guajardo, Sarah and Erin Windemuller, Jim and Stacey Schimmel, Rebekah Bolton, and Joe and Jennifer Schimmel; cousins, Noah and Jenni Windemuller, Hannah, Malachi, Chloe, Simon, Kayli, Aubrey, Elle, JD, Easton, Mikayla, Mason, Sydnie, Lucy, Jolee, and Jakob. A private family gathering will be held at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Josh Warren officiating.  Burial River Bend Cemetery.   Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the family’s gofundme (https://www.gofundme.com/f/peeue6-baby-harley). Harley’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful nurses who blessed them every day, especially Jen, Sarah, Rita, and Hannah (Han-Ban).

The communion of the saints is a beautiful Truth that we confess. When one member of the body rejoices we all rejoice, when one member suffers we all suffer with it, and when one weeps we all weep! (Rom 12:15; I Cor 12:26) Most everyone at Hope Church knew the name of little Harley and prayed for her and loved her from afar. She was used by God to direct many of us to prayer; To see His sovereignty, and also His tender care in life and in death; To remind us that we are not our own but belong to our faithful savior, Jesus Christ. May God comfort your family and may you grieve in Hope of the final resurrection, when all things shall be made new. My words are insufficient and so I leave you with God's Word of Comfort found in I THESS 4 - 13 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

What a beautiful baby daughter! Our sincere sympathy to Mommy and Daddy, Grandma's and Grandpa, Aunts and Uncles and to all of the cousins who would have loved to hold little Harley Lucy, play with her, and laugh with her through the years. Your precious baby is safe forever in Heaven, but we grieve with you as you miss her. May God give you comfort and rest.
