Greta Bruursema

Greta Kay Bruursema (DeVries), age 90, of Jenison, a faithful daughter of the Lord, met her Savior Jesus face to face at dawn on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Greta’s love for her husband of 71 years, Larry, was unwavering. She meticulously cared for her family and her home with a gentle spirit full of grace. Greta was a true prayer warrior for her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her church family. She was so proud of her family, and she never forgot a birthday, always sending a card right on time! Larry and Greta were active members of Baldwin Street CRC, and she demonstrated her life with Psalm 62:1-2. She was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Quentin Westhuis. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Larry; her children, Sue and Mark Bognar, Beth and Pete Bloemendaal, Sara and Dan Westhuis, James and Kim Bruursema; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy Smits, Sandra and Ken Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Lois DeVries; and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison with Pastor Don Van Slyke officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Monday from 10-10:45 am prior to the service at church.
