Gregory James Rapp, age 66, of Cascade, quietly passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 after a 15 month struggle with brain cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Gail; adored father of Ryan and Melissa Rapp, Adam and Anna Rapp, and Julianne Rapp; doting grandfather of Kaylee, Rosalina, Addison, and the late Hunter Rapp; mother, Marilyn; brothers, Mitch and Cindee Rapp, Brian and Kelley Rapp, sisters, Lisa Dohm-Scheltema, Kimm Dilly; and best friend from childhood, Lou and Betty Kocsondy. After graduating from Wayne State University Law School, he began working for Travellers Insurance Company and eventually transitioned to the firm of Kluczynski, Girtz & Vogelzang where he practiced Workers Compensation Law for over 30 years. He was also honored to have been a past president of the Grand Rapids Adjusters Association.
As much as Greg enjoyed his work, his true happiness was found in just being with his family as a loving husband, an adored father, and a doting grandfather. He took great pride in his children, as he spent years involved with Boy Scouts with his son Adam, getting a chance to travel around the country on High Adventure trips; he enjoyed his son, Ryan’s baseball games and he never missed one of Julianne’s recitals. Greg also enjoyed traveling the world, collecting crackle glass with his wife, golfing, RABA outings, and especially a good glass of wine. Memorial services will be held Friday, February 23, 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood) 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, February 22 from 6-9pm at the funeral home.

So sad to hear about Greg. My condolences to his family. I practiced on the opposite of Greg for over 35 years. He was always well prepared, not overbearing, and pleasant to deal with-- without compromising his clients interests.
Together we had sons who both played on the Hope baseball team, and it was always fun talking baseball with him ( and how our sons were doing post college) and enjoying the annual RABA trips with him.
I wont be able to make the memorial, but my thoughts and prayers will be.

I am both saddened to learn of Greg's passing and sad that I won't be able to attend his service as I am in Florida. We shared many cases and even more meaningful discussions and good times. He made a real contribution to our discipline. I will miss him.

Almost daily for 26 years we saw Greg walking his dogs faithfully twice a day. Often we would talk to him or at least wave!. He was a nice and personable man and a very good neighbor We will miss him.

To Gail and all of Greg's family: I am so sorry for your loss. Greg was a great business associate and special friend whom I will truly miss. He was a genuine and caring person - you don't often see that kind of sincerity all wrapped up in one person. I loved his sense of humor and passion for music. We have lost a wonderful person who will be missed by all. My prayers remain with the family during this sad time of loss.

Gail and family - I'm so very sorry for the loss of Greg. I enjoyed working with Greg, being his friend and being part of your family for these past 22 years. I will miss his guitar at the Christmas parties and how he would play and sing Aime by Pure Prairie League for me.
