Greg Geysbeek

June 23, 1968 ~
July 24, 2025

Greg Geysbeek, age 57, of Jenison, peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 24, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He is now free from all pain and suffering.

Greg was a kind and humble man—quiet, thoughtful, and always ready to lend a helping hand. He lived a simple life, valuing faith, family, and the comfort of home. A true tech enthusiast, he enjoyed video games, virtual reality, and had a remarkable gift for understanding computers and technology. He was also a loyal Detroit Lions fan and cherished time spent with loved ones.

His life was anchored by his deep faith, and one of his favorite Bible verses was Ephesians 2:8: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Ruth DeKorne, Peter and Betty Geysbeek; and his uncles, David DeKorne, Lee Geysbeek, and Larry VerMerris. He will be lovingly remembered by his father, Larry and Bev Geysbeek; mother, Mary Geysbeek; brothers, Kevin and Michell Geysbeek, Steve and fiancée, Leslie Simpson; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Audrey, Kara, Caleb, and Emily; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Les Feldick Ministries

I grew up a few houses down the street from Greg and his family and what a wonderful time we had back in those days. Nearly all of my best memories from my childhood happened at the 'Geysbeek Home' as their loving parents (Larry and Mary) allowed us kids to use up every inch of their property to play whatever sport was in season. Kevin was my best friend and though Greg was a couple years older than us he was the PERFECT older brother that we needed as he was an all around good kid who set a great example for us growing up. Most importantly though Greg treated us as his equal which is something that most older teenage brothers would have never done. Looking back now I realize that was just who Greg was, an extremely kind and compassionate person to everyone that he knew. He was the exact same way to me when we crossed paths as adults, always greeting me with a smile, a handshake and usually a funny childhood memory that we both cherished. Not a week goes by 35+ years later that I don't think back to and smile about all those fun filled memorable days of my youth. Greg (and his family) will always occupy a very special place in my heart. My deepest condolences to the entire Geysbeek family on your loss.
