Gracia De Bruin

Gracia Anne (Griffioen) De Bruin, age 84, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She fought through many health challenges over the years and never complained. She was a strong yet compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

She always enjoyed a competitive game of cards, shopping, gift giving and reading. Most of all she loved a cup of coffee or a Coke with the family and friends she cherished.

Gracia will be terribly missed by her husband of almost 64 years, John. Together they shared many adventures traveling or even just a car ride to discover something beautiful and new.

She will also be remembered by her three children, Kim (Dan) Dykman, John (Lynne) De Bruin, Michelle (Stanley) Jager. She adored her grandchildren, Johnnie (Keri) De Bruin, Elizabeth (Jose) Galvan, and Thomas (Katelyn) Dykman as well as Lisa (Dan) Scholtens, Ryan (Amanda) Jager, and Kristin (Chris) Douglas. More recently she was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Deanne (Dana) Strickland, Gerard (Minerva) Griffioen, Jane Griffioen (Tom Schurino), and Arie (Kris) Griffioen. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, as well as on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. A service to celebrate Gracia’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 11 a.m. at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin Street, Jenison, with Rev. Don Van Slyke officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery.
