Gordon Lee Veldink, age 85, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 22, 2021, and now joins his wife of 61 years, Lois, and his son, Richard. Gord was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa, and great-grandpa who cherished his family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Gord was a self-employed contractor for many years, building many homes in West Michigan. He enjoyed the many years he spent up at the cottage at Hess Lake where lots of great memories were made with family and friends over the years. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Gord also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Gary and Judy Veldink, Jim and Karla Veldink, Sandy and Dan Helms; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Larry and Ginny Veldink, Joan and Paul Huyser, Betty and Ron VandenBerg; sister-in-law, Ruth Veldink; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Reformed Church, 8360 Cottonwood Jenison, with Rev. James Evenhouse officiating. Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, March 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Love INC of Hudsonville.
