Gordon R. Beerens

December 1, 2020

Gord Beerens, 83, of Jenison, finished his life of service to the Lord and entered his eternal home on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. He was born and raised on a farm in Vogel Center, Michigan, where he learned the value of hard work, integrity, and most of all, service to others. Other than taking a few breaks for fishing, hunting, and recreating with family in the outdoors, Gord focused his life on being the hands and feet of Christ, quietly taking care of too many people to count. He had an incredible gift for seeing a need before anyone else, filling that need, and dispensing grace and love to everyone he came in contact with. The impact he had here on earth will be missed by many. Gord served his country in the Army, spent many years working in construction, and finished his career as the Commercial Building Inspector for the City of Wyoming. He is survived by Bonnie, his loving wife of 52 years. Together they loved and nurtured six children, Nancy and Marc Faasse, Dr. Jack and Linda Dekkinga, Keith and Tammy Beerens, Brian and Sandra Dekkinga, Michael Beerens and Kim Romeyn, and Brent and Terri Beerens. He loved his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren, and will be missed by his brother and sister- in- law, Rog and Linda Beerens. His parents, Herman and Grace, and grandson, Ryan Faasse preceded him in death. Family and Friends may be greeted on Sunday, December 6 at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Ave, Hudsonville, from 4-7 pm with a Celebration of Life Worship Service to be held on Monday the 7th at 11 am. Masks are required for both the visitation and services. Interment will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Sunset Legacy Foundation or Faith Hospice.

Uncle Gord was blessed with a servant’s heart, a love for his family, his wife- my Aunt Bonnie, and a love for his Savior. More than once we enjoyed the results of his fishing expertise. I expect that when he opened his eyes in heaven to see his Lord- he was satisfied. Ps 17:15. Please accept our sympathies.

My deepest sympathy to all. My parents were good friends to gord and bonnie and after my mom passed away, gord went out of his way to keep in touch with my father, often sending him home with homemade soups. Such a great man of faith and great kindness. My prayers are with you.
