Gordon P. Remtema, age 96, went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 20, 2020. He was born February 4, 1924, in Grand Rapids, the son of Herman and Gertrude Remtema. In 1941, he graduated from Lee High School where he enjoyed participating in several sports. After graduation, he went to work for his father at Remtema Electric. He was a veteran of WWII serving as an electrician aboard the USS Peoria and later aboard LST 262 in the North Atlantic and European Theater. After the war, he returned to Remtema Electric retiring after 45 years. He was a lifelong member of Eighth Reformed Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who is remembered by his loving wife of 70 years, Rena (Oosterheert); son, Paul (Kathryn) Remtema; and daughter, Mary Brooks; grandchildren, Hannah (Alex) Pritchard, Megan (Christopher) Miller, Jonathan Brooks, Krystal (Dustin) Lennie, Adam (Jessica) Falk, Apryl Falk; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edith Remtema; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Roger (Hildred) Remtema, and Donald Remtema. Due to the pandemic, there will be a private service. Interment will be held at Grandville Cemetery.
