Remembering Gordon Oberg

Gordon Frederick Oberg, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 29, 2018. He passed away peacefully at home after a short illness. Gordon was loved by so many. He was always ready to listen and share his wisdom over a cup of coffee and probably some cookies. Putzing around in the yard, sitting by the water, or gatherings with family and friends was where Gordon was happiest. He was a veteran and served in the Coast Guard. With his strong work ethic and marketing knowledge, Gordon built his business around coaching and mentoring business owners in the heating and cooling industry. His clients thought of him as family. He officially retired July 31, 2018. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Inez; his children, Deanna and Tim Kasberger, Susan and Terry Glover, Steve and Nancy Oberg; his 11 grandchildren, Katy, Christian, Max, Lily, Brad, Robert, Dameon, Morgan, Sully, Lincoln and Gemma; his brothers, Morie and Sandy Oberg, John and Carol Oberg; his brother-in-law, Terry and Trudy Roer; and his nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, 7510 36th Avenue, Hudsonville, MI with Pastor Paul Krupinski officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice or Bread of Life Lutheran Church.

Gordon Oberg was a friend, mentor and most of all disciple of our lord Jesus Christ. What ever Gordon did our lord was always at the center of his intentions, goals and efforts to bring his business knowledge and wisdom to share with his clients. McClure Tables in Jenison Michigan was a client of Gordon’s but I myself became close friends with Gordon. In all my time spent with Gordon and yes the books he would constantly give me to read one thing was always obvious was his love for our lord Jesus Christ. I thank the lord for the gift of having you in my life Gordon even if it was for such a very few years. I am grateful for the business advise but most grateful in sharing our fellowship in Christ and through you I have become closer to Christ and for this I thank god for having shared my time with you. Eternal rest, give to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them Todd & Judy McClure
