Gordon DeVries

Gordon B. DeVries passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 7, 2021. Gordon was 87 years old, born at home on December 29, 1933 to Ralph and Grace DeVries. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene. Gordon is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lynne; his sons, David (Karen) DeVries, Tom (Leisha) DeVries, daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Barbachyn, Beth (Don) DeVlieg; stepson, Stephen (Corey) Veldheer; grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Verkow, Jeffrey (Lisa) DeVries, Scott (Chelsea) DeVries, Steven Barbachyn, Eric Barbachyn, Meagan (Joseph) Rainey, Kayla (Jared) Reno, Tyler (Ashley) DeVries, Taylor DeVlieg, Mitchell (Courtney) DeVries, Frank Veldheer, Sadie Veldheer; ten great-grandchildren, (the youngest, Madelyn, being born on the day Gordon went to be with Jesus); brother, Dr. Marvin (Martha) DeVries; brother-in-law, Bob (Alice) VanderTuin; many nieces and nephews. Gordon served in the US Army as a radio operator. He worked at Oliver Products for over 50 years. Gordon loved serving the Lord and spending time fishing and golfing, and volunteering at the Family Network of Wyoming. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 5250 Byron Center Ave SW, Wyoming with Rev. Roger Groenboom officiating. Burial Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family 10-10:45 am prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Community CRC (see address above).
