Markell (Tuttle) - Glenna Tuttle Markell (Shattuck), age 68 of Byron Center, stepped through the door of eternity and into the perfect, healing hands of Jesus on Friday, November 26, 2010. Glenna is no longer sick; but instead, dancing on streets of gold with her loved ones. She was born in Ionia, Michigan, on August 10, 1942 and attended Ionia High School with the class of 1960. She married Eric Ross Tuttle and was a devoted wife and mother to her five children: Melissa Lubbers, Eric (Beth) Tuttle, Ross (Sharon) Tuttle, Rance Tuttle, Wendy (Frank) Jenkins and her 16 grandchildren: Jennie, Ben and Blake Lubbers; Morgan and Nicole Tuttle; Zachary, Jessica and Derrek Tuttle, Zane and Adam Hansen; Joe Banas; Brittany Jenkins (Ryan and Travis Terpstra), Caleb and Andrew Jenkins. She worked and retired from the Keebler/Kellogg Corporation. Glenna came from a family of twelve and is survived by: Wayne (Carolyn) Shattuck, Ron Shattuck, Marie (Dick) Taylor, Doug (Judy) Shattuck, Brenda Richards, Ed (Vicki) Shattuck, Al Shattuck, Debra VanDyke, Randy (Denise) Shattuck, niece Holly Ellens and son Easton and many other nieces and nephews. Special thanks to: Margaret Ann Wedge, Andy Tiggleman and the entire Hospice team. Glenna was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Markell; parents: Lucille Shattuck-Monks (Freeman) and Kenneth Shattuck; and her brothers: Jimmy and Kenneth Shattuck and brother-in-laws: Ron Richards and Howard VanDyke. Glenna always demonstrated unselfish love and kindness to everyone and maintained a positive attitude and a giving spirit despite her long-suffering illness. What a legacy to pass on to her family! Glenna's family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 7 to 9PM at the Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave., and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at Church. A memorial service for Glenna Markell will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Grand Rapids First Assembly of God church, 2100 - 44th Street SW in Wyoming. The burial ceremony will be held at Winchester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to God's Kitchen or Buist Foundation are appreciated.
