Gladys   Wassenaar

Wassenaar, Gladys Gladys Wassenaar, age 93, of Allendale, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 10, 2013.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Peter.   Gladys was a lifelong learner who always had the desire for knowledge.  Her great sense of humor and gift of conversation was evident to all who knew her.  She collected antiques and loved history.  Being creative with crafts, she enjoyed pottery and ceramics.  Gladys was active at Second Allendale Christian Reformed Church for many years, serving as church librarian; she also was a long time volunteer at Love INC.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elaine and Jim Brazin of Ann Arbor, Teresa and Curt Ritsema of Charlotte, Lynn and Dawn Wassenaar of Allendale; grandchildren, Stephanie and Dan Curnayn, Peter Lukasavitz, Eric and Rachel Ritsema, Julie and Nick Craig, JoAnna and Nate Novak, Daniel Wassenaar, Lisa and Josh Taylor; great grandchildren, Jocelynn, Zoyee and Brody Taylor, Landon Ritsema; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stanley Boss, Mildred Studham, Dottie Wassenaar, Ruth Pate, Trudy Wassenaar, Inez Pigg; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Funeral services will be held Monday 11 am Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (corner of Avery and Scott) 6651 Scott St., Allendale with Rev. Harold Veldman officiating.  Interment Allendale Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 5-8pm at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to World Renew.
